Meet your coach

Hello, I’m Thomas — a certified language teacher with extensive experience teaching teenagers in secondary education.

I began my career teaching English in French high schools before moving to Australia, where I taught French in secondary education. I later became Head of Department, with responsibility for curriculum coordination and exam preparation. During this time, my classes achieved outstanding results, including first-in-state results in Victoria.

Over the years, I have prepared motivated students for a wide range of language exams, including GCSE, A Level, VCE, DELF and DALF. This experience has given me a precise understanding of exam requirements, assessment criteria, and how to guide teenagers with different learning profiles toward success.

My background provides strong pedagogical foundations and a clear understanding of how teenagers acquire a language over time — balancing structure, confidence, and consistent progress.

Today, I specialise in one-to-one online French coaching for teens. My approach focuses on clarity, organisation, and exam strategy, helping students strengthen their skills while reducing stress and building confidence.

I work closely with parents when appropriate and adapt lessons to each student’s level, personality, and school context. My aim is to build solid foundations, academic rigour, and long-term confidence in French.

How I work

I don’t rely on rigid methods or repetitive drills.
French is introduced progressively and in context, with a strong focus on understanding and real use of the language.

Lessons are structured and adapted to each student’s level, school context, and learning pace. Grammar is explained clearly and practised immediately, while speaking and comprehension are developed step by step, with supportive correction.

With regular sessions and engagement, students build confidence, strengthen their skills, and make steady progress over time — without unnecessary pressure.

Who this coaching is for

This coaching is designed for teens who need structured, personalised support to build confidence and make steady progress in French.

It is particularly well suited to:

  • middle school and high school students who want to strengthen their foundations or regain confidence in French

  • students preparing for school exams and certifications (GCSE, A Level, VCE, DELF Junior and equivalent)

  • motivated teens who benefit from one-to-one support aligned with their academic goals and school requirements

This coaching is best suited to students who are willing to engage regularly and to families looking for serious, long-term support.

Most teens take one session per week, which allows them to build confidence and progress steadily without adding unnecessary pressure. This rhythm works well alongside school commitments and helps keep learning sustainable over time.

Depending on your child’s goals, level, and availability, we may adjust the frequency or combine sessions with light practice between lessons. During the introductory session, we discuss a rhythm that feels realistic and supportive for your child’s age and workload.

Yes. In addition to language development, I help students improve how they structure their ideas, organise written work, and express themselves clearly.

This includes working on sentence structure, paragraph organisation, and logical flow, as well as developing more precise vocabulary. These skills support not only French exams, but also broader academic writing and thinking skills.

Many teens feel blocked not because they lack ability, but because they lack confidence or clarity. My approach focuses on creating a calm, friendly, and structured learning environment where students can progress step by step.

I take the time to explain clearly, practise gradually, and correct in a supportive way. This helps students feel safer when speaking, more organised in their thinking, and more confident over time.

Lessons are adapted to the student’s school programme and exam requirements when relevant. I align my work with the expectations of the curriculum while also reinforcing underlying language skills that are essential for long-term progress.

This balance helps students perform better at school while building skills that go beyond short-term exam preparation.

As students progress, I encourage them to explain ideas, justify opinions, and organise their thoughts clearly in French. This helps them move beyond memorisation and develop a more analytical approach to language.

These skills are particularly important for higher-level exams and for students who want to express themselves with more precision and maturity.
