Meet your coach
Hello, I’m Thomas — a certified language teacher with over fifteen years of experience in education.
I began my career teaching English in French high schools before moving to Australia, where I taught French in secondary education. I have also worked within international programmes, including leadership roles, and supported professionals operating in corporate and global environments.
Over the years, I have coached adult learners in a wide range of professional contexts — including law, healthcare, executive leadership, and the cultural and events industries (film, live productions, and international projects in francophone settings). This experience has given me a precise understanding of the language demands of professional and public-facing communication.
My background combines solid pedagogical training with real-world experience. I understand not only how languages are structured, but how they are acquired over time — through consistent, guided practice.
Today, I specialise in one-to-one online French coaching for adults and professionals. My approach focuses on clarity, structure, and practical communication, helping learners develop confident and precise language skills without unnecessary complexity.
I work with international learners and am fluent in English, which allows me to explain complex linguistic points clearly when required. I work best with learners who value thoughtful guidance, steady progress, and long-term development.
How I work
I don’t rely on rigid methods or mechanical drills.
French is introduced progressively, in context, and always connected to real-life communication.
Sessions are structured yet flexible, adapted to your goals, rhythm, and availability. Grammar is explained clearly and applied immediately, while speaking remains central, with correction that supports progress without interrupting the flow.
With regular sessions and active involvement, you can expect steady, meaningful progress over time — built on clarity, confidence, and continuity.
Who this coaching is for

Do you work with complete beginners?
Yes. I regularly work with complete beginners, including adults who have little or no prior experience with French.
Lessons are structured, supportive, and progressive, with a strong focus on building confidence from the start. We take the time to understand how French works, practise speaking gradually, and create a learning environment where making mistakes is a natural and useful part of the process.
This approach allows beginners to build solid foundations while developing confidence and clarity from the very first sessions.
Do I need to practise between sessions?
Yes — regular practice between sessions is strongly recommended.
Progress in French comes from repeated exposure over time, not from lessons alone. Weekly one-to-one sessions provide structure, guidance, clear explanations, and correction. Practice between sessions helps reinforce what we work on together and makes progress more natural and durable.
Even short, regular moments of French — listening, reading aloud, or revisiting class material — make a real difference. One session per week supports steady development, while additional exposure helps progress feel more visible and comfortable over time.
How will I know that I’m making progress?
Progress in a language is not always immediately visible, especially in the early and intermediate stages. That’s why my approach focuses on making progress both real and noticeable.
Lessons are structured around what learners can do in French, not just what they study. Each session targets a clear communicative goal — for example, explaining an idea, reacting spontaneously, or presenting an opinion — so progress is experienced concretely.
Progress also becomes visible over time through familiar tasks and situations. Learners notice greater ease, fewer hesitations, richer vocabulary, and clearer expression. These changes often appear before accuracy feels perfect, but they are strong indicators of genuine progress.
I also take time to highlight what has improved — whether it’s fluency, comprehension, or confidence. Many learners progress more than they realise unless someone helps them notice it.
Finally, expectations are set realistically. Weekly sessions build confidence and continuity, while consistent exposure over time leads to lasting, meaningful progress rather than short-term results.
